Hi! I'm new to this comm, and I am also new to the beading/jewelry making scene (I had to come up with an art project..this is what I chose. :))
I have made several different stone-chip necklaces that are popular with us girls down here in East Texas, but I want to add some pizzazz that no one around here has.
I was wandering through etsy.com and one project really stuck with me... it was a basic beaded necklace but it had a polyeurathaned mum flower charm! I get the concept of dipping the flower after it's dried, but I'm not sure on the how-to-make-the-flower-a-charm part?
I was thinking about attatching it to a metal back of some sort and soldering it to a hook? I have no idea how it was done, and it really stuck with me. Is there anyone here that solders or even remotely has an idea of how to do this project?
Thank you for your input!!

A friend's daughter wants to make some of those square, woven potholders we all did as kids...with the stretchy loops on a pin-type frame. Easy, right? Not necessarily. I found her a frame, and a bag of loops. Now she tells me she doesn't want the "pukey colours" available in the bag...she wants "cool colours". Black, red, purple, cobalt blue, burgundy, silver(!), etc.
Any ideas where (or even if) these might be obtained?

I am still new to this, but I DO understand that you cannot do spells to affect someone's free will. However, can you do spells to affect the energy of a situation to make it more favorable for something to occur?
For example: I'd really like my relationship to move the next level. We keep talking about it, but he is still fearful. I know he has been hurt, he's apprehensive of being 'trapped' & I completely understand that & I try to make him more comfortable, assuring him that I am in it for the long haul, etc. Is there a spell or ritual that can help him feel more at ease in the situation & perhaps clear his mind to make the situation more favorable for him to make a decision to either propose or make a commitment? I don't want to MAKE him do it. But to bring positive energy to it. Does this make any sense?

I've looked on every craft site, searched dozens of word combos in google, and tried tons of other things to find an answer to my question. I NEED you guys.
How in the world would you cover REAL leaves in plastic to create the earrings I have included under the cut.
The plastic is very hard, and there are some bubbles on the back side.
Is this covered in some sort of art gel? plastic sheets?

This hasn't been a problem for me for years now, but I've lost a lot of things in the past few days, the worst of which is one of my tarot cards! (The four of pentacles, ironically.) It's primarily been little things like a pencil, a pair of earrings... I did lose my bus pass for about 24 hours, and that was terrifying. XD
Anyway, I just want a little input on spell construction for this. I want to find my lost things, but I think I also need some little thing against sending away the sprites stealing my stuff! It's really out of character for me to lose track of so much at once, so I think that someone (or someones) else must be involved.
Here's what I'm thinking. Tell me of anything I might want to add to make it more powerful. I've done a divination with my four-of-pentacles-less Tarot and it turned out really supportive, but I still feel like... I just need someone else to look at it. Here it is:
(object) lost, (object) found
Bring (object) back with this cheery sound.
Magnet, draw my (object) back to me.
No more will it be lost, this I decree.
Sprites hiding my (object), flee!
(object) will return. So mote it be.
I'll use a bell and magnet during the ritual at the appropriate parts, but I feel like a third facet might make it even stronger. :)
Thank you!

I want to charge/bless some water on the night of the blue moon. Where I live, that's on December 31.
Have any of you done this before (during any moon phase)? If so, I'd love if you would share your stories of what your ritual consisted of.
What do you use your blessed water for?

I've always used acrylic and oils, but I've only recently started playing around with water color. I used to think it was too light and, well, watery looking. I didn't take into account the embelishments that can be made by mixing mediums. I painted this bird, but wasn't really satisfied with it until I had a stroke of genius to go over it with flourescent pastels, I think it made all the difference...

but I'm particularly fond of this one...

Why is there such a learning curve going from small hooks to an N?! I am currently making my friend's christmas present and it took a bit to get used to the hook I have to use...
I figured this would be the perfect place to ask. I have a month-long vacation with nothing to do and I'd looove to learn how to needle felt. I've been looking at needle felting artist's work such as Kit Lane and The Licorice Tree and I've wanted to try it just for a change of pace.
Any needle felters here? Do you have any tips for a beginner needle felter (ie. best types of wool roving, best types of needles, etc)? I've been watching some youtube videos.. any other recommendations for where to turn for tutorials?
& just so it's not text only.. my latest furry creation (a commissioned piece):

Thanks & Happy Holidays! <3

For Christmas I decided to make some La Cage Aux Folles shadowboxes for my friends. We saw John Barrowman in November and I picked up a few extra flyers about the show. Here's the result:

I don't know how to play craps but want to learn. My friend R knows how to play, and I bought a “craps for dummies” book. I also crafted a craps board on a big piece of foamcore that we can use on game night to practice. We go to the casino every now and again and I'd love to play this game. It looks like fun.

My mum's friend gave her biscuits for Chinese New Year. So we were sharing it after dinner one night and after eating the not really that delicious biscuits but absolutely gorgeous wrappers. I find myself unwilling to toss the wrapper into the bin. I then went around collecting everybody's wrapper! It's too pretty to throw away, I proclaim.
All the Different Wrappers

( More pictures here )
Absolutely proud of it! And it's for "Koko" my aunt. that's her wrapper. Am gonna try to make one for everybody.

Good evening!
I recently acquired a good amount of "quilting fabric" for free. I was thinking of making some pot holders out of some of the pieces as gifts, but I don't know what this fabric is made of. Is this fabric going to melt to someone's pots and pans?!

For a christmas present, I made a tie, and now I need to put a lining on the back. However, I don't have great sewing skills, and have no idea how to do this so that it doesn't effect the knitting but also looks like a clean seam. Can anyone give me any hints? Thanks!

Usually I burn myself out over the holidays because I pick something and then do it fifty bajillion times, so that by the time I get to the last person's gift, I want to burn the whole lot and send it to the 9th level of hell. Last year I didn't do that and this year I chose a craft that wouldn't make me sob, gnash my teeth and curse the fact I didn't become a hermit years ago.
My aunt bought me one of those one a day calendars and it was all origami. So I decided to do framed origami projects for all my friends. I didn't photograph one of them because the girl came to live with me and I had to have it wrapped before she came. Oh well. Be warned, several pictures behind the cut!

Hi! This is my first time posting. I always hand make my Christmas gifts, and this year I decided instead of making jewelry, sewing or making soap like I normally do, I was going to be really ambitious and do paintings for my friends and relatives. I'm between 25%-75% finished with the others(I'll probably finish two more tonight if I can get motivated!), this is the only one I've completed so far...

It's a Paul Berthon reproduction on an 11"14" canvas done with acrylic. It's a little more flat than I'd like, but I love the colors!
